What type of vehicle do you convert?
AMS Vans can modify or convert any van from a 1996 model through the current year model Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Plymouth Grand Voyager.
How long does it take to convert or modify a van?
The conversion process takes approximately 3-4 weeks. AMS Vans keeps a huge inventory of finished vans that are ready for immediate nationwide delivery. If you select a wheelchair van from our finished inventory list and the necessary funds are available to pay for the van, we can usually ship it to you within 1-5 days. The only limitation to this is for our west coast customers. We personally deliver every van; therefore, it can take up to two weeks for west coast residents to receive wheelchair vehicles from AMS Vans.
Should I buy a vehicle first and then bring it to Adaptive Mobility Systems to convert?
NO! Too often, people visit their local auto dealership and buy a car or van the salesperson recommends without considering whether or not it can be modified for their needs. The auto salesperson may think he has the best vehicle on the market, but they usually don't understand your special needs as well as an adaptive equipment distributor. In addition to knowing which vehicles are most easily modified, we have arrangements with several dealers and know where to shop for the best buys. Does the AMS conversion come standard with a removable front driver’s seat?
No, our lowered floor minivan is designed for passengers of wheelchair vehicles and their families. However, we do have the ability to add a removable front driver’s seat upon request.
Does AMS Vans cut out the driver’s side Rocker panel?
No, AMS does not cut out the driver’s side rocker panel. We believe it reduces the structural integrity of you vehicle. Our goal is to leave our wheelchair vehicles as close to the original factory specifications as possible. Our job is to keep you safe!
Can AMS add a Power Door to a Dodge Grand Caravan SE?
Yes, we can add a power door for $1,000. Although this is possible we would recommend that you purchase the SXT or Touring Edition models as these vehicles come standard with dual power doors from Chrysler. Yes, the cost is slightly higher for these models; however, they come with additional equipment such as: 3.8 Litre Engines, Alloy Wheels, convenience group, home link, upgraded suspension and mounted steering controls. You receive the extra goodies for less than our competitor sells their low end Dodge Grand Caravan Se. Pay less and get more!
